Eating is also a way of connecting with our surroundings. What we put on our plates says a lot about the products we choose, the people who grow them and the way we think about consumption.
In Barcelona, Restaurant Sopa makes this connection with the local area one of the cornerstones of its offering, serving vegetarian, healthy food made with locally sourced, seasonal produce.
The pleasure of enjoying food
Sopa’s story began 11 years ago in Bali, where it opened its first restaurant. It was there that a distinctive approach to gastronomy took shape, combining traditional Balinese cuisine with innovative vegetarian recipes. This combination is now very much part of its new restaurants in Barcelona and Madrid.
Sopa’s philosophy is based on an idea that is as simple as it is meaningful: “We are what we eat”. The restaurant works with local suppliers and producers, with whom it has built close relationships, to source fresh, high-quality, locally produced food, much of which is also organic.
This distinctive relationship is reflected in its commitment to the local area. Since 2025, Restaurant Sopa has been part of the Barcelona Sustainable Destination programme, which supports businesses and organisations in the tourism sector in adopting practices that are more responsible towards the environment and people, such as using resources efficiently, reducing waste and improving working conditions.
Flavours to suit everyday life
With a menu that puts food centre stage, Sopa prepares a daily vegetarian offering, including vegan options, with salads, soups and main courses. Dishes include escalivada (roasted vegetables) and other creations that vary according to the availability of ingredients. Its ever-changing menu adapts to the produce available each day and constantly seeks to surprise diners with new and creative ways of preparing and enjoying food.
Sopa’s offering can also be enjoyed outside the restaurant. Through its SOPA at Work service, businesses can order the same dishes served in the restaurant and have them delivered to their workplace, either through the delivery service or by choosing takeaway.
A place to switch off and reconnect
Restaurant Sopa invites us to turn something as everyday as a lunch break into an opportunity for discovery. It offers a welcoming space where we can pause, take a break from the pace of daily life and enjoy dishes full of subtle flavours that encourage us to see familiar ingredients in a different light.
From Bali to Madrid and Barcelona, Sopa has developed an offering that puts variety, flavour and values at the heart of the experience, inviting diners to sit down at the table with curiosity and let themselves be surprised.
