Some spaces are functional, welcoming and surprising, while others manage to convey something more. They are places that do more than simply surround us: they evoke feelings, inspire us and transform us.
This is the vision behind Mimarlu Studio, a firm specialising in sustainable interior design, circular construction and hotel consultancy, which sees materials, light and textures as a bridge connecting us with our surroundings.
Design inspired by the local area
Based in Barcelona and Valencia, the studio offers a comprehensive service covering everything from design to project management and construction. At the head of the team is Mireia Martínez Lull, founder and creative director, who has more than 10 years’ experience in interior design.
Going beyond aesthetics, Mimarlu Studio creates environments that stimulate the senses and encourage a welcoming, relaxing and memorable experience. At the same time, it works to make operations as efficient as possible, both environmentally and economically, contributing to the project’s profitability. From the outset, it develops a strategy aimed at reducing operating costs, increasing the Average Daily Rate (the average daily revenue per occupied room) and improving the accommodation’s market positioning.
Its approach incorporates principles of neuroarchitecture and a style inspired by quiet luxury, with the aim of creating sensory experiences that set each space apart, connect with guests and contribute to their well-being.
Every project starts with a desire to highlight the cultural and artistic identity of each place. To achieve this, the studio incorporates locally sourced materials, local craftsmanship and design solutions that seek to respect and reinterpret the essence of the surroundings.
This distinctive approach to design is also reflected in the way the studio manages its activities, based on principles of responsibility and sustainability. Circular construction is one of the foundations of its working methodology, alongside the use of local suppliers, reducing its carbon footprint and creating spaces designed to stand the test of time. This commitment has earned it recognition under the Barcelona Sustainable Destination programme.
From concept to completion
One of the studio’s distinguishing features is its commitment to providing comprehensive support throughout every project. It not only develops the interior design but also manages and carries out the construction work, coordinating building teams and overseeing the process to ensure high-quality finishes and completion within the planned timescale.
This is complemented by a hotel consultancy service, offering strategies tailored to each brand and accommodation business to help them establish their position in a market that increasingly values sustainability and make their investments in this area more profitable. The studio manages sustainability certifications and advises clients on finding grants to fund their projects. Its services include guidance on certifications such as LEED and BREEAM, as well as sustainability initiatives for the hotel sector such as Ecostars.
Spaces designed for the future
Boutique hotels, rural accommodation, resorts, homes, luxury villas, shops and offices are just some of the projects developed by Mimarlu Studio. At the heart of every project are people: those who will arrive, live, work or simply enjoy the space.
Thinking about these people also means thinking about the future and creating interiors that meet today’s needs, use resources responsibly and retain their value over time. It is an approach to design in which sustainability informs every decision and every space is conceived to stand the test of time.
